january of mine

to sum up january of mine, it wasn't great. i started the month with feeling sad that all the festive holiday decorations were taken down and are not going to return in a while. well, it was alright. i could handle that post-holiday letdown. however, the weeks of persistently frigid weather made me so sick and dull after all, and it was so hard to get back to myself as i wished i could crawl into my bed and sleep like a dead person until winter is over.
now it's february. what a relief! i have no doubt that it's going to be a better month than january. there are days to celebrate-especially my thirty-third birthday and valentine's day, and then soon this awfully long winter will end. even though we're expecting more winter storms to come, they won't let me down again, i mean what's so surprising? the experience of snow by far has taught me how to cope with it and made me stronger throughout the season. psst! it's a little secret pushing the stroller through the piles and piles of snow dumped all over in the city has helped me build good muscles on my body. how great! :p

new year, new mind

happy new year 2014! and hello, i'm back to my blog. where have i been up to for the past five months? this is what i remember mostly. from august to october glenn and i spent time visiting my family and friends who live in korea. it took a month for glenn to adjust the time difference (fourteen hours!) after we came back, and then there were holidays.
speaking of blogging, i failed last year. totally failed. even though i told myself over and over again to keep the blog alive i just couldn't. i thought this full-time mommy job ain't gonna let me have time just for me to sit down and write up a new post on the blog. i was worn out everyday after chasing my toddler boy around, playing with him, doing chores and running errands. i couldn't do anything productive when my body reached total exhaustion.
but there was a little change in my life which i really appreciate. glenn started preschool. he only attends the morning class three days a week but let me tell you, that little change has made a huge difference. i can spend a quality of time that is only allowed for myself. the "me" time gives me so much energy to do things in positive way, and i feel great! being seperated from his mama for three hours is still not a pleasant experience for glenn but he's been accepting more people around him in the class, and he's been telling me he likes going to school and playing with his new friends. :)
2014 is going to be another year of concentrating on what i do as a mom, a wife and a daughter but also a new year of growing myself up as a blogger who can truly speak about her own feelings and thoughts. there will be new features on the blog that keep on going- weekly and monthly, as well. let's get the new blog year started!

little glenn has been carrying his toy police car everywhere we go, which often causes little troubles at the playground. it makes him very sad when some bigger kids try to snatch the toy car out of his hand. :(

new art brushes and watercolor paints! he couldn't wait to get them going! i'm not sure if glenn has a hidden talent in painting as his grandma keeps telling me but i've been truly believing it's never too early to introduce him to art.

this picture of him doesn't tell that he is still super attached to mama, obsessed with smelling mama's sweaty forearms. ;)

my little tot walked briskly through the park on the 4th of july.

i've been playing a bit of catch up each month. it does seem like my blog exists only for the 52 project. well, on second thought maybe the 52 project is a motivation to keep me blogging. let's think positive, shall we? i've planned lots of fun adventures during the summer. some are already done but i just forgot to snap the precious moments. so with fingers crossed i'll do better job at keeping memories alive and managing time to post on the blog regularly. huzzah!

my 17 month old baby is not a baby any more. he's getting to be a big boy. i love watching him grow everyday.

last saturday our little family was invited to a private bbq party. luckily but anxiously at the same time, there was a private sandy beach nearby the venue tempting little kids to jump in and play. we weren't prepared at all for the unexpected play set, and to be frank, i guess it was only me who was a bit concerned about letting glenn play in the wet coarse sand! glenn couldn't stop himself running to the beach. he didn't mind the sand got everywhere on his body or the water soaked into his clothes {of course he didn't! what am i saying?}. he was full of pure joy while playing in the sand. ;)

with the start of summer season glenn and i spend more time outdoors. i see a twinkle in his eyes when he plays with sticks, rocks, and dirt! ;)

a few weeks ago, david and i bought glenn a play kitchen. we were not sure how much he was going to like it but now i can say we have been delighted to watch him cooking for us. :)

glenn is quite fond of dandelions in the grass tickling his hand.

spring, i missed you so much!

spring has always been my favorite season that i look forward to. even if i am a very patient person i almost got mad that the winter weather stayed for longer than it should. it was too hard for me to wait for the winter to be over. and yes, right now i couldn't be happier to see the cherry blossoms are finally coming into bloom and spend all day soaking up sunshine with my lovely family and friends. i am really enjoying the beauties of springtime.

after he decided to be brave walking outside glenn doesn't want to stop walking, saying hello to strangers and exploring everything that is within his reach. :)

glenn made a CAR all by himself! there were a lot of trials and errors of course but he finally figured out how to put the lego blocks together. nice job, glenn!

glenn very carefully took his steps outside while holding mama's and dada's hands.
